Coaching is not therapy. It is a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential (as per the International Coaching Federation approach to coaching).
It’s an ongoing relationship where we provide encouragement, guidance, and honest feedback, as you embark on your journey to discover, uncover and explore the best you have to offer.
The goal is to move you from Awareness to Action and Accountability.
Professional speaker Les Brown has a mantra in which he says: “There is greatness within you, something super.” As a coach it is my privilege to help you discover and enhance that superpower within you. I am in search of that greatness in my clients/coachees; that one thing through which they can make an impact that leaves a lasting and meaningful legacy.
I feel that if you are stuck in a situation, be it personal or professional, coaching can help. With attentiveness, skill and the right tools, I, as a coach can inspire you to uncover ways to cope with different situations in your life as well as to inspire development. Coaching can equip you to have clarity about how to move forward and what the next steps are.
The wonderful thing about coaching is that it brings awareness of who we are and why we do things a certain way.
I believe that it can be difficult to work towards a goal, but, coaching, with the right support and guidance, can illuminate the road to finding solutions to your difficult situations.
Coaching changed my outlook on life and I know that it can positively impact your life. It can take you from doubting to being dynamic, experiencing breakthroughs with a clear vision of where you are going.
Personal Development Coaching focuses on helping you identify your goals and develop strategies to achieve them. As the coach, I work with you to identify areas where you want to grow and develop and provide guidance, support, and accountability to help you achieve your desired outcomes. Coaching may be focused on career development, relationships, health and wellness, or personal growth.
Therapy, on the other hand, is focused on helping individuals overcome emotional or mental health challenges. A therapist works with the client to identify and understand patterns of behaviour or thinking that may be contributing to their difficulties. Therapy may be focused on addressing specific mental health diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, or trauma, or on helping individuals manage stress, improve relationships, or develop coping skills.
While there may be some overlap between coaching and therapy, therapy typically involves a deeper exploration of past experiences and emotions, whereas coaching is focused on taking action towards future goals.
